COVID-19 update: Client advice on what to do during the Coronavirus crisis

Latest COVID-19 Update

Please see our latest client guidelines below

We now offer online payment! Save time and reduce contact by paying online!

Social distancing procedures are in place to avoid face-to-face contact. Please call for more details.

We are open and our staff are on hand for you and your pets during this difficult time.

Please note that vaccinations need to be risk assessed and, if the vet decides your pet is at risk, scheduled at an appropriate time where we can administer them safely. Due to high demand these are likely to be booked a few weeks in advance – please bear with us, your patience is appreciated. More information on vaccines is below.

All clients are being offered video or telephone consults, enabling you to get the advice you need and for our team to decide if we need to see your pet in person to provide further care. For any emergencies we’ll ask you to attend the practice immediately.

We can provide essential care for all pets during the current government restrictions. This includes some vaccinations as well as providing products such as pet food, flea, worm and tick products, as well as ongoing medications. For any products you’d like to order simply call us to arrange for payment and safe collection/delivery of these items.

The below further details how we are caring for pets at present.

Other Coronavirus-related FAQs

If you have more specific questions, take a look at our frequently asked questions below:

  • Vaccinations
  • Neutering
  • Dental Procedures
  • Food and medication
  • Operations and blood tests
  • Routine appointments

Vaccinations

Can I bring my pet in for an INITIAL VACCINATION COURSE?

A vaccination is not deemed as an emergency and we will not be offering an initial vaccination course. If you have a puppy, we recommend that they are kept inside and not exposed to other dogs. You should book a vaccination course as soon as possible after normal service resumes.

We will review this and provide a further update if the government extends the initial three weeks of enhanced measures to slow the spread of the virus.

Can I bring my pet in for their ANNUAL VACCINATION BOOSTER?

We can postpone this vaccine for up to 3 months after the due date without requiring a restart. During these exceptional times, we ask that you delay the booster until up to a maximum of 3 months after the due date.

Neutering

Can I have by pet NEUTERED or SPAYED?

Yes. Please contact the practice to arrange an appointment and instructions on how we will keep you and our staff safe to enable us to carry out this treatment for your pet. We do ask for your understanding at this time while we are working with limited resources and prioritising emergency cases.

Dental Procedures

Can I bring my pet in for a DENTAL?

Yes. Please contact the practice to arrange an appointment and instructions on how we will keep you and our staff safe to enable us to carry out this treatment for your pet. We do ask for your understanding at this time while we are working with limited resources and prioritising emergency cases.

Food and medication

How can I get my REPEAT FOOD or MEDICATIONS?

At present elective operations should only be performed in the interests of animal health and welfare. If you are worried about a lump on your pet, we recommend a video or remote consultation with your vet at this time and if considered necessary by the vet, we can advise on the best ways to manage.

How can I get my FLEA, WORM, TICK and FLYSTRIKE treatments?

It is important that you continue to give your pet the appropriate treatments. We are looking at ways of getting these to clients who are due them and postal / delivery services may be an option. Please contact us to make suitable arrangements.

Operations and blood tests

Can my pet still have ELECTIVE OPERATIONS such as lump removals?

At present elective operations should only be performed in the interests of animal health and welfare.  If you are worried about a lump on your pet we recommend a video or remote consultation with your vet at this time and if considered necessary by the vet we can advise on the best ways to manage.

What about ULTRASOUNDS and BLOOD TESTS?

We can deem whether this would be critical or not – please contact us to understand more.

Routine appointments

Can I bring in my pet for a HEALTH CHECK?

Not at this moment in time because this is not deemed critical. However, depending on availability, we may be able to conduct a health check via a video or telephone consultation. Please ask the practice for further information.

Can I bring my pet in for NAIL CLIPS? Or to have their ANAL GLANDS expressed?

This should be postponed if your pet is not in any danger of feeling discomfort. If you are uncertain whether this is the case, please arrange a video or telephone consultation with the vet or nurse.

If you still have questions that weren't covered above, please contact us directly.
